Governor Edward M. O’Brien and First Lady Ruth O’Brien Open Government House for Holiday Tours

ANNAPOLIS, MD (December 2, 2027) – Governor Edward M. O’Brien and First Lady Ruth O’Brien invite all Marylanders to tour Government House during this holiday season. During the weeks of December 6 and December 13, Government House will be open for tours Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Eddie and I are pleased to share the magnificence of the holiday season with all Marylanders,” said First Lady Ruth O’Brien. “For the next two weeks, the doors of Government House will be open to all, and I encourage anyone who is able to visit and enjoy this year’s exciting creations.”

The public will be allowed to tour the rooms on public display. Government House this year is decorated in a traditional holiday theme with garland, decorated trees, candles and thousands of colorful lights.

Government House, the official residence of Maryland’s first family, is located at 110 State Circle in Annapolis.

About First Lady Ruth Ann O'Brien

Ruth Ann O'Brien is the wife of Governor Edward M. O'Brien and Maryland's First Lady. As First Lady, Mrs. O'Brien has focused on early childhood literacy, improving Maryland's foster care system and addressing the needs of disavantaged youth by spearheading the Teen REACH program.

Ruth O'Brien was born in Houston, Texas in on November 17, 1987. She received her B.A. in literature from McMurry University in 2010 and her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 2013. Since 2016, she has worked as an associate at the Washington, D.C. office of Hughes, Hubbard & Reed LLP, a prestigious international law firm.

Mrs. O'Brien and her husband have four children: Caroline, 11, Eddie, 10, Matthew, 2 and Mason, born March 22, 2028. The O'Brien family resides at Government House in Annapolis. The family also has a residence in Crisfield.
